(670 The Score) The White Sox are trading away one of their best breakout players of this season, dealing slugger Jake Burger to the Marlins prior to the MLB trade deadline on Tuesday.
The White Sox are acquiring left-handed pitching prospect Jake Eder from the Marlins in return for Burger.
Burger, 27, has a career-high 25 home runs and 52 RBIs over 88 games this season. He was a first-round pick to the White Sox in the 2017 MLB Draft.
Eder, 24, has a 4.12 ERA over nine starts between the Marlins' High-A and Double-A affiliates.
The White Sox also acquired left-hander Luis Patino in a separate deal with the Rays, sending cash considerations in exchange to Tampa Bay. Patino has a 6.75 ERA this season in Triple-A.
The White Sox open a three-game series with the Rangers on Tuesday night in Texas.
