White Sox catcher Yasmani Grandal exits game with strained left calf

Grandal crumpled to the ground in pain after a checked swing.

(670 The Score) The injury hits just keeping on coming for the White Sox.

Catcher Yasmani Grandal exited his team's game at Minnesota on Monday evening with what the team called a strained left calf. Grandal fell to the ground in serious pain after checking his swing in the top of the sixth inning, and he had to be helped off the field without putting weight on his left leg/foot. In a better sign, Grandal was putting a bit more weight on his left side while walking in the dugout moments later. He'll be further evaluated, the team said.

Zack Collins replaced Grandal, who just recently returned after suffering from left calf soreness. Catcher Seby Zavala is on the White Sox's taxi squad for this road trip, so he could soon be activated if Grandal lands on the injured list.

Entering action Monday, Grandal was hitting .190 with 14 homers, 38 RBIs and an .830 OPS in 62 games.
