SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Stormy Daniels' appearance at the Capitol turned out to be just a cameo, speaking for not quite two and a half minutes against an adult entertainment tax which helps rape crisis centers.
"There is no evidence whatsoever linking strip clubs and strippers with rapes," Daniels said, reading from a prepared statement. "There is, however, lots of evidence linking clergy, especially the Catholic Church, to rape. So where's their tax?"
Strippers from a Hustler club near St Louis were bused in for support.
"We're totally okay with supporting rape crisis centers," said Michaela Baldwin. "But raising (the tax) and using this 'pole tax' and 'sin tax' as a way to take more money from these businesses is not right."
As for Daniels, she dashed to a waiting limo and her next stop, a book signing at the Deja Vu club in Springfield, where she was scheduled to perform Friday night.
