CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Is your loyalty for the Chicago White Sox more than skin deep? For 30 fans, the answer is yes.
The Chicago White Sox held Wednesday free, one-hour tattoo sessions for 30 randomly selected fans in celebration of Opening Day.
Renowned tattoo artist Ryan Henry and his staff completed the White Sox-themed tattoos at 9MAG Tattoo in Pilsen, which is featured on VH1's "Black Ink Crew," the team said in a media release.
The 30 'SOX INK: FANS FOR LIFE' sweepstakes winners were selected randomly. The sweepstakes posted on the team's website. The contest ran from March 22-25. Fans had to reside in Illinois or Indiana to enter and be at least 18-years old.
The tattoo sessions took Wednesday from 5-9 p.m. at 9MAG Tattoo, 2150 S. Canalport Ave. ahead of the White Sox opener on Thursday.
The White Sox said the winners and the team mutually decided what, exactly the "Sox" tattoos would be.
Entercom Chicago's photographer, Floyd McCraney, who also shoots for the White Sox, was on hand to capture the whole experience for the lucky fans.
According to him, all the fans were really pleased with their new ink.
