“Through the years, I had to learn the hard way how to add personal time,” Dustin shared. “Early on in my career is was always go, go, go, go, go. Always say ‘yes,’ always say ‘yes’ to playing a show and through the years, I realized that may not be the best thing for mental health and longevity of enjoying what I love most — and that’s making music.”

Now, focused more on a balanced approach, 38-year-old Lynch has found his solace comes from the great outdoors. “Whether it’s at the lake, on my boat, out on the farm, just being outside, walking a trail, even just walking the neighborhood,” he said of all the different ways he enjoys outdoor time and resets his mind. “Thinking about where I’m at, what I need — maybe not so much what I want all the time — is key.”

Aside from the time outside, Lynch says remaining grateful is something that helps keep his chin up when  he’s feeling down.

“My best cure for a down day — because I have them — is to remember to be grateful,” he said. “I’m blessed to be living this dream and yeah, there’s ups and downs, but the down days make the up days so much better.”
