Anheuser-Busch still giving away free beer despite US not reaching vaccine goal
(KMOX) - Although the U.S. is coming up short on its goal of 70% of residents getting at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine by July 4, Anheuser-Busch is still going forward with its biggest beer giveaway ever this weekend.
Starting Friday, anyone 21 or older can go to MyCooler.com/beer and up upload a selfie at any place they enjoy to have a beer – like a bar, restaurant, backyard or baseball stadium. Then they'll receive an email with a digital gift card worth $5. They can use the card to claim a free beer through Monday at 11:59 p.m. ET.
It was announced by actor Bill Pullman, who once played the role of President in the film “Independence Day.”
"We're fighting for freedom for all, not from alien invaders, from separation, from being cooped up while baking bread and ignoring basic hygiene," he says in the video released on YouTube.
Last month, the St. Louis-based beer maker announced a national campaign "Let's Grab A Beer" in partnership with the White House. The percentage of US residents with at least one dose of a COVID vaccine is currently at 54%, according to the New York Times.
We’re teaming up with the @WhiteHouse in the fight against #COVID. And we’re doing it the best way we know how: bringing everyone together over a 🍺. Our biggest giveaway ever will be unlocked when we reach the vaccination goal by 7/4/21. #LetsGrabABeer https://t.co/lA8L3K2oZR pic.twitter.com/67epocqTqY
