Police reported that a 24-year-old was arrested and charged with attempted murder and several other crimes after driving his car into a police station.
The horrifying incident took place in Havre de Grace, Maryland, on May 23, according to Storyful.
CCTV footage posted on Facebook shows the vehicle driving through the doors and across the lobby of the Maryland police station.
Officials identified the driver as Timothy Kahl, who called and made several threats against the police station. The 24-year-old has been charged with two counts of attempted first-degree murder, two counts of assault in the first degree, reckless endangerment, and three counts of malicious destruction of property.
Officers went to Kahl’s residence after the threatening call was received and “located the subject driving erratically. The statement continues, "After colliding with this vehicle, Kahl then intentionally drove his vehicle into the front doors of the police station into the lobby. He exited his vehicle and as he came back out of the front doors he tried to attack officers and was tased, then arrested and taken to Hartford Memorial Hospital.”
Police said no staff nor police officers were injured during the incident. However, officials say the department building “sustained severe damage.”
In a statement, Havre de Grace Mayor William T Martin said, “The events that unfolded late last evening are a testament to the true dedication and professionalism of the men and women who make up the Havre de Grace Police Department and shed light on the constant danger and threats they face every day …. We must always be cognizant that no community, no matter how great, is immune to such random acts of violence.”
