The groceries, which will start to be delivered on Friday, are meant to supply a family of four with enough food for seven days.

Eight Days of Hope President & CEO Stephen Tybor says they were able to give away about 7,500 masks to families in need in the 14215 zip code last week.

"When we were handing out the masks, one of the things that we kept doing - we were asking the families, 'How are you? Is there anything else we can do?'" Tybor began. "We heard over and over again, 'Do you have any food? Do you know where I can get some food?

"I went home that night, and I just cried - man, my heart was broken," he continued. "We live in a great city - the City of Good Neighbors - and we have to find a way together to serve those in need."

"As mayor of the City of Buffalo, I could not be prouder of the tremendous spirit of generosity that exists throughout this community," said Byron Brown. "Truly proving, nationally and internationally, why we're known as the City of Good Neighbors."

The cost of the Feed Buffalo project will be about $100,000, and Eight Days of Hope is asking for donations from the community.
