Buffalo, NY (WBEN) Erie County Sheriff Tim Howard says a second deputy has tested positive for the coronavirus.
The deputy was assigned to the Erie County Holding Center, and was notified of the results Monday evening.
Howard also noted:
A private facility completed the test.
- A review is underway to determine if staff and inmates came in close contact, as per the current CDC guidelines.
- This reported result is the second positive notification within the Sheriff's Office.
- No inmates have been tested for COVID-19.
- None of the inmates in Persons Under Investigation (PUI) protocols meet the threshold for testing, as per current guidelines.
- The seven inmates remain in PUI protocols.
- In the past several days, the Division of Correctional Health has fit-tested over 630 of the agency's employees for Personal Protection Equipment.
