Buffalo, NY (WBEN) Hospital and medical workers will receive the honor of a flyover as the 914th Air Refueling Wing out of Niagara Falls Air Reserve Station join three F-35s from Vermont Air National Guard to fly over Western New York's hospitals shortly before noon Tuesday.
Captain Brian Haun with the 914th says the formation flyover will cover all the major hospitals as a salute to all who are on the frontline. He says approval was given in unprecedented speed.
"I've been fortunate enough to serve in the military for 20 years. Throughout my tenure, people come up to me and say thank you for your service when I'm in uniform. It's very rare that we are able to turn the tables to thank you for your service," notes Haun. "For not only us supporting my family locally, but all the support the community gives us, it's a special time for the Niagara Falls Air Refueling Wing to turn the table and say thank you."
Chris Lane, President of Buffalo General Medical Center and Gates Vascular Institute, says he's thrilled to hear of the flyover.
Lane says he's never seen a flyover before, but he says he's blessed by how the community's stepped up, including Mayor Brown leading a parade to thank the staff, saying it gives a great boost.
