BUFFALO, N.Y. (WBEN) - We all (should) know that politics should be avoided at all cost around the dinner table on Thursday for Thanksgiving, but what about watching the Buffalo Bills?
Outside of a grocery store on Wednesday, several people told WBEN that spending time with family is more important than the Bills game, but it still presents a conundrum for those who are itching to see the Bills play the Cowboys.
"Oh wow," one man said. "I think the dinner is more important because it's with family. If it was just me and myself, it would probably be the Bills. Tomorrow is a special day with family."
"I'm a Bills fan but family comes first," another man said.
One woman told us that both the Bills game and Thanksgiving dinner are important.
"We make dinner for the Bills game," she said.
Buffalo Mayor Byron Brown said the Thanksgiving dinner is more important...but....
"The football game is on during dinner," Brown said. "You can multi-task. That's very important. Eating a great meal and being thankful for everything we have in this country and seeing the Buffalo Bills beat the Dallas Cowboys...I think Dallas is going down."
Medal of Honor recipient and WBEN host David Bellavia said there's nothing more important when the Bills are playing.
"This is a huge moment," Bellavia said. "We have a horrible track record on Thanksgiving football games for the BIlls. There was a Detroit game where Barry Sanders made a move that's like the ultimate highlight reel of Barry Sanders. That was on a Thanksgiving Day against us in the throwback uniforms. That's haunted me to this day. I think it was Darryl Talley who got juked out of his mind by Barry Sanders."
The Buffalo Bills play in Dallas at 4:30 p.m.
