Buffalo, NY (WBEN) Normally, Mother's Day means getting the family together to take mom out to brunch or dinner, and give her flowers. This year will not be the case as coronavirus concerns lead to social distancing requirements.
Mother's Day is a very strange one for Frank Mischler at Mischler's Florist. "Our garden shop is closed to the public, so people have to phone in or use the website, and to make it possible to happen, we've limited our delivery area to Amherst and Clarence, and limited the number of arrangements to five or six instead of the usual 30," says Mischler, who adds he's working with half his normal staff.
Mischler says some customers have been desperate to find a florist that's open. "We're trying to get as much done as we can," says Mischler, noting not every florist can be open. He adds deliveries will happen Friday and Saturday, but he will not work Sunday. "People are going to need a break to recuperate," says Mischler, which means some deliveries may not arrive until early next week.
Stephanie Dulski usually get her mother and sisters together for Mother's Day. "We intend to do the brunch side of things but deliver a little brunch treat to my sisters and my mom, and a little social distance if the weather cooperates," says Dulski. "I use the House Party app a lot to interact with my mom and my sisters. It's been a great way to connect and really easy to use."
