BUFFALO, N.Y. (WBEN) - A group of activists rallied outside the office of Democratic Congressman Brian Higgins on Thursday and pushed for the passage of HR-1, which is the first bill introduced by democrats in the 116th Congress.
HR1 is an anti-corruption bill which seeks to enact democratic reforms related to voters rights, transparency, and campaign finance. Some of the highlights of it include the passage of the DISCLOSE Act which would require political action committees to make their donors public, the requirement of the president to disclose his or her tax returns, and to create an automatic voter registration.
Higgins previously indicted his plans to support HR1 in the new congress, though activists said they don't want Higgins to rest on his laurels.
