NIAGARA COUNTY, N.Y. (WBEN) - A 70-year-old man has died from coronavirus in Niagara County and is the latest victim of the disease that has killed 22 people and impacted thousands across the region.
"This is always the hardest part of what we have to report," Niagara County Chairwoman Rebecca Wydysh said in her daily update on Tuesday.
Niagara County officials released the latest data on Tuesday morning and said there are 18 new positive cases in the county, bringing the total to 428. Of the total cases, 207 remain in isolation including 19 who are in the hospital.
The City of Niagara Falls has 115 cases, which is more than twice the amount of any other municipality within the county.
There are 199 people who have recovered from COVID-19.
Niagara County has tested 2,171 people. Wydysh said testing numbers have increased in recent days, which will help the county better determine where they are on the coronavirus curve.
There is now a drive-thru testing site located at Niagara County Community College that is operated by the New York State Department of Health. Wydysh said that the site will go live on Wednesday and they are not sure how long the state will operate from NCCC.
An appointment is required for testing at NCCC.
