BUFFALO (WBEN) - Still no confirmed cases of coronavirus in Erie County.

That being said, shoppers are certainly clearing shelves in anticipation of an outbreak potentially happening. Many have noted the difficulty of being able to find toilet paper, hand sanitizer and other products.

"I'm wary," said Marie Kirschner, an older shopper. "I'm just very careful about washing my hands and doing things the right way."

This seemed to be the common sentiment among shoppers, at least the ones I spoke to.

"Because there could be a shutdown, yeah, we thought we could stock up on some stuff that would sit on the shelves for a while," said Paul Atkinson. "There's a concern - I'm not panicked yet, but we though we'd beat the crowd."

"I have no concern - it's zero," she said. "I feel like it's a serious situation, and we should all take it seriously, but I live by a different ruling. I'm going to bring religion into this - I believe in God and Jesus Christ - if anything should happen to me, it is already destined to happen to me."

That being said, Eberhardt believes people need to realize their own selfishness and have respect for those around they could infect. When asked about the decisions to cancel sporting events, etc., she thinks canceling large crowds is a perfectly logical solution.

"I agree, and here's why: you have people who are going to be coughing who says, 'My tickets are more important, even though I have a cough and bringing my cough to all you people, because I paid for my tickets and I'm not going to waste my money,'" she continued.

"I think it's wise," said Atkinson. "With the NBA, if the players are getting it, why have them sweating, bumping into each other or whatever...it seems like a lot."

"I think holding the crowds down and things like that is a very good idea," Kirschner echoed, while admitting she won't succumb to fear. "As long as I'm careful, washing my hands and staying away from great, big, huge crowds, I feel very comfortable being out and about."
