BUFFALO, N.Y. (WBEN) - The ice jams along area tributaries began on Monday with the drastic rise in temperatures after last week's snowfall.
At Cazenovia Creek in West Seneca, an ice jam formed shortly before 5 a.m. and resulted in minor flooding along Parkside Drive. The town's emergency manager, Peter Spilsbury, said on Monday morning that the ice jam wasn't as thick as the one last week, though he did note it could still be dangerous.

Right now, everything is holding its own. It's able to take the water and it's able to get it out of here. If it does move and re-jam, we could have an issue."

Meanwhile, Erie County's Public Works Department used an excavator to remove ice formed below the Stony Road Bridge, which finished its redesign last fall. The bridge was engineered to better handle ice and tree flow in the cold conditions, though Commissioner Bill Geary told reporters that they want to be as proactive as possible.
"So far, things look well," Geary said.
