Buffalo, N.Y. (WBEN) - A Florida developer is on track to begin construction on a new residential and mixed use property in Silo City along the Buffalo River. Generation Development was before the Buffalo Planning Board Monday and the panel was enthusiastic about the project which was tabled pending some development details to be worked out with the city's Department of Public Works.
The project, which would include about 160 apartment units and parking for nearly 200 vehicles, could get underway in the third quarter of 2020 according to the developer.
Who will live in Silo City and is there a demand? The developers say the space will be creative in nature and that there is enough demand to fill the Malthouse development and even more that is planned in the future. Wilmoth says, "We've seen that there is exceptional demand for this type of development here in Buffalo."
The estimated $70 million project will include apartments as well as working loft spaces for artists and creatives to practice their trade.
