Buffalo, NY (WBEN) The Buffalo Catholic Diocese says the Bishop's residence on Oakland Place has been sold.

It was purchased by Carmel Oaks, LLC and the sale price was $1,500,000. The property will be utilized as a residence.

The Diocese says proceeds from the sale of the property will be dedicated to the Diocese of Buffalo's Independent Reconciliation and Compensation Program (IRCP) to benefit victim/survivors of sexual abuse.

The Bishop's Residence, built in 1928, was designed by architect E.B. Green for the Forman Family. The property was sold to the Diocese of Buffalo in 1952 and has been the residence for six of Buffalo's bishops as well as priests serving on their staffs.
