BUFFALO, N.Y. (WBEN) - More winter weather is on the way in Buffalo.
The National Weather Service issued a Winter Storm Warning for Erie, Genesee, and Wyoming Counties from Tuesday afternoon through Tuesday evening. Forecasters predict one to two feet of snow in the most persistent lake snows with wind gusts as high as 45 miles per hour. There is also a Winter Storm Watch for Chautauqua and Cattaragus Counties from Wednesday afternoon through Thursday evening. Ten to 18 inches of snow is expected.
WINTER STORM WARNING IN EFFECT FROM TUESDAY AFTERNOON THROUGH THURSDAY EVENING...
* WHAT...Heavy lake effect snow expected. Dangerously cold wind chills possible. Total snow accumulations of 10 to 18 inches expected in the most persistent lake snows. Winds gusting as high as 45 mph later Wednesday through Thursday, which may produce near blizzard conditions with severe blowing and drifting snow. Wind chills as low as 25 below zero possible.
* WHERE...Northern Erie and Genesee counties.
* WHEN...For the Winter Storm Warning, from 4 PM Tuesday to 7 AM EST Thursday. For the Wind Chill Watch, from Wednesday morning through Thursday afternoon.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Travel could be very difficult to impossible. Areas of blowing snow could significantly reduce visibility. The hazardous conditions could impact the morning or evening commute. The cold wind chills could cause frostbite on exposed skin in as little as 15 minutes.
