On Monday across the country, people are celebrating another year of Presidents Day, a federal holiday celebrated every third week of February as the United States first president George Washington was born that week nearly three centuries ago.

Since then, the U.S. has seen 44 others lead the nation in the oval office, and the tradition of the holiday has continued on.

Each commander-in-chief has been seen in a certain light, depending on individual perspective, but University at Buffalo Political Science Professor James Campbell has two former presidents that he looks back on the most fondly.

"I would have to say Abraham Lincoln because he led the nation through its toughest time and saved the nation," Campbell said. "Franklin Roosevelt would be right up there at the top too, getting us through a period of crisis."

Campbell also recognized contributions the nation's first president had on what the United States of America is today.

"I don't think any discussion of great presidents would be complete without naming George Washington," Campbell said. "He set a lot of the precedents for how the presidency should be conducted."

The U.S. heads into the last presidents day until the next presidential election, set for later this year.
