BUFFALO, N.Y. (WBEN) - Buffalo Public Schools will be closed on Monday due to worries of coronavirus, though officials believe it could be closed for as long as three weeks beginning in the middle of next week.
Buffalo Public Schools will only close on Monday for students, though staff must report in order to prepare materials for up to three weeks should the district close for up to three weeks. All students will report on Tuesday to receive materials and the necessary precautions.
Other schools in the area, such as West Seneca, have not closed the district yet. However, West Seneca said on their Facebook page they are sending educational materials home with students as a precautionary measure in the event they do close.
Multiple schools in Western New York announced they are closing due to coronavirus.
Private schools like Elmwood Franklin School and Nichols School will switch to distance learning beginning next Wednesday.
"Our intent is for students to return after our previously scheduled Spring Break on Monday, April 13," Nichols School said in a statement.
"Distance learning between faculty and students will begin on March 18 through March 27," Elmwood Franklin Schools said in a statement. "Additional information will be sent to families and available online in the coming days."
