BUFFALO, N.Y. (WBEN) – Kristina Wienckowski knew she was close to the birth of her fourth daughter when she visited Oishei Children's Hospital on New Year's Eve.
When she gave birth to a healthy, six-pound-12-ounce, Charlotte, she never thought her daughter would be surrounded by microphones and cameras because of the unique achievement: the first child born in Buffalo in 2019.
Charlotte Wienckowski was born just a few seconds after the New Year's Ball dropped on TV. The Wienckowski's even had the ball drop on TV when Charlotte was delivered.
"I wasn't expecting it at all," Kristina said while cradling Charlotte and seated next to her husband, Chris. "My doctor didn't think I would make it to midnight. He thought for sure (she would) go before. She held out until midnight exactly."
The Wienckowski's, who live in the Tonawanda, chose to name their daughter Charlotte by looking up the name.
"I just fell in love with it," Kristina said.

"It's going to be a little crazy at the house but I'm ready for it," Chris Wienckowski said.
