Buffalo, NY (WBEN) The candidates for Erie County Executive appeared on WBEN's Hardline Sunday addressing a number of issues affecting the county.
One of the largest and most controversial of the topics is the recent passage of a law in Albany that grants drivers' licenses to undocumented immigrants.
County Legislator and now candidate for County Executive, Lynne Dixon says noted her opposition to the newly minted law, "My preference is that we didn't pass this at all, but now that it's been passed, the County Legislature passed a resolution this week in support of the efforts to take this to court." Dixon added that the measure got all of its momentum from down state officials, "...it was sort of pushed through because they can, rather than having careful, thoughtful deliberations. I was also disappointed by the County Executive's silence because I thought being the largest county in Western New York, in Upstate New York, that he could have taken a stand on behalf of the residents of Erie County."
