What if Dixon does well next month? "The polls don't give Mr. Trump much comforr. Democrats outnumber Republicans 2 to 1 on a statewide basis. Polls show Trump is viewed unfavorably by 2/3 of voters or more, so political operatives don't give President Trump a chance of winning in New York. But if Dixon does well in Erie County, it could indicate support existing in rust belt areas like Wisconsin, Michigan and Ohio, which he carried in 2016 and he's banking on carrying next year," says Vielkind.
