The latest information from the Erie County Department of Health shows that 232 people were hospitalized as of Wednesday. Erie County Health Commissioner said that in general, hospitals have been fairly steady with total admissions.

Erie County is no longer tracking recoveries and active cases because recoveries were self-reported and not all people who tested positive for coronavirus have self-reported.

Nursing home deaths account for 26 of the deaths. According to the New York State Department of Health, though those numbers were last updated on Wednesday. The state reports 11 people have died at Garden Gate Health Care Facility, 9 people died at Harris Hill Nursing Facility, and 6 people died at Father Baker Manor. Erie County Executive Mark Poloncarz tweeted on Thursday night that 42 people died at area nursing homes.

During his update on Friday, Poloncarz said that he is asking Congress to pass a fourth round of stimulus funding that would include funding for local governments such as Erie County. Poloncarz worried that without federal funding, the county would have to cut millions of dollars in services and even lay off employees in government.

Projections from Erie County include a loss of approximately $140 million in sales tax revenue. Poloncarz said he does not want to deplete the county's reserve fund.
