BUFFALO, N.Y. (WBEN) - The East Aurora woman who hit a girl with her car last July while she was drunk was sentenced Monday to five years of probation.
Erin Kuntz admitted to drunk driving on July 21 and striking a nine-year-old girl who was on the sidewalk. Her blood alcohol content was at .20 percent, more than twice the legal limit.
"I think the biggest reason why she probably got probation was because, quite frankly, the family of the victim here, the father in particular, were very forgiving," said Erie County District Attorney John Flynn. "They did not ask the judge for any jail time."
The girl who was hit was taken to Oishei Children's Hospital and has since recovered from her injuries.
In addition to probation, Kuntz' license is suspended for six months and her vehicle must have an ignition interlock device installed.
