Buffalo, NY (WBEN) - SUNY Erie Community College has announced that President Dan Hocoy is leaving the college after accepting a position in Kansas City.

Hocoy will remain with Erie Community College through the end of his contract on June 30 of this year. He has been with the college since 2017.

Hocoy leaves Western New York to become the Vice Chancellor for Strategic Initiatives for Metropolitan Community College in Kansas City.

“It has been a blessing to be back in the region of my childhood, which also allowed me to take care of my parents in their last days,” Hocoy said in a statement. “And it has been my greatest honor to serve the College and work with our Board of Trustees, the County Executive and the Erie County Legislature.”

In a news release, Len Lenihan, chairman of the SUNY Erie Board of Trustees, said that the Board is immediately undertaking plans for interim leadership, while beginning the process to form a search committee for the next president.
