BUFFALO, N.Y. (WBEN) - Auto bureaus in Erie County are prepared for the possibility of prohibiting the general public from entering due to coronavirus.
Erie County Clerk Mickey Kearns said that employees are taking productive measures at preventing the spread of germs by wiping down plastic seats each day and are even requesting area businesses to donate pens that could be used by visitors who need to fill paperwork at the DMV.
Kearns said he will be meeting with government officials in the coming days to determine a plan in case DMV offices need to be shut down. There may be an appointment based system, more mobile DMV’s, and other initiatives. https://t.co/khqjhqahht

March 12, 2020 Coronavirus could lead to other measures that will have an impact on an already busy wait at an auto bureau.
"We do have the opportunity and authority to go into an all appointment system," Kearns said. "That means to get a transaction done in Erie County at the clerk's office, you will have to make an appointment."
