BUFFALO, N.Y. (WBEN) - Winter isn't here yet but snow is in the forecast and officials in Erie County this week said that they're ready for whatever Mother Nature brings this winter season.
There are ten plow trucks in each of the five districts for Erie County.
"That's 50 (plow trucks) in total which is up from 37 from a few years ago," Poloncarz said. "It allows us to also have one or two in reserve. We will have more plow trucks on the road from Erie County in the 2019-2020 winter season than we've had in nearly 20 years with having ten plow trucks per district."
Each of the plow trucks cost the county at least $250,000.
The county is currently accepting applications for part-time snow plow drivers that require a specialized license.
"We're going to be out there cleaning snow and ensuring the roads are open," Poloncarz said. "Sometimes Mother Nature makes it hard on us. Jack Frost gets out there and dump lots of snow. We can get out there but it may be some time before we get to your street."
