Buffalo, N.Y. (WBEN) - The union representing the Erie County Sheriff's Department deputies is reacting angrily to the Erie County District Attorney's office following Friday's guilty verdicts in the Kenneth Achtyl trial.
Erie County Sheriff's Deputy Kenneth Achtyl Found Guilty
The Erie County Sheriff's Office PBA, in a facebook post, said "the verdict from Orchard Park yesterday is unfortunately a setback for ALL local law enforcement".
Achtyl was found guilty of three counts by a jury in Orchard Park Town Court Friday following a week-long trial that stemmed from the arrest of a Buffalo Bills fan outside New Era Field. Body cam video was key in the case outcome, most experts say.
"This District Attorney has attacked the credibility and integrity of our members in a case where the complainant admitted in his own testimony he was NOT compliant with the police. This case is just one recent example where the District Attorney has negatively impacted a PBA member", the post states.
