Buffalo, NY (WBEN) You may seem like you have the flu, with the coughing, sneezing, achiness and runny nose that seems to be training for a marathon. But in some cases, you've been hit with a respiratory virus that's been going around.

Dr. Kathy Grisanti says there have an increase in patient visits because of this. "The actual influenza have been around much later, but we're seeing the influx of other types of viruses, some identified, and we're seeing more flu-like illnesses," says Grisanti of Pediatric Urgent Care. "We're definitely seeing peak numbers, typically more than what we see in January and February, much later than normal."

The symptoms can resembly the flu with the main difference being a low grade fever as opposed to a more severe fever with full-blown influenza.

Dr. Grisanti says hydration is one of the keys in helping to deal with the unpleasant symptoms of these illnesses and adds that many over the counter remedies can help.

At WNY Immediate Care, Dr. Joe Chow tells WBEN there are numerous viruses out there with flu-like symptoms but he wouldn't completely discount the full-blown flu.  Symptoms of all these illness include common problems such as runny nose, coughing and perhaps fever.
