Correction: Our initial report described Elderwood Assisted Living as a nursing home. It is not.
WILLIAMSVILLE, N.Y. (WBEN) - A dryer fire at Elderwood Assisted Living in Williamsville prompted an appearance by fire officials late-Thursday morning and temporarily blocked traffic on Main Street.
"The sprinkler head went off until we got a line stretched in there," Mark Van Horn, Chief of Snyder Fire, told WBEN.
Residents inside the building stayed inside but were moved to a common area. Van Horn said no one was hurt.
"We don't have any issues with anyone being displaced," Van Horn added.
Water damage was reported as a result of a sprinkler system's containment of the fire.
An investigation into how the fire started in the dryer continues.
