Newfane, NY (WBEN) Hours before Niagara County announced its first case of coronavirus, the county and Eastern Niagara Hospital reached an agreement to use Newfane Intercommunity Hospital, which shuttered in November, to potentially house coronavirus patients who need to be quarantined.
There will be 32 rooms with individual bathrooms.
Stapleton says the county is looking for more locations. "We want to make sure there are other options as well, so we'll continue to identify other options. It doesn't have to be a hospital, it can be a number of locations that are secure and clean and can meet our needs with restrooms," notes Stapleton.
Niagara County health officials will address the county's first coronavirus case Wednesday morning.
