BUFFALO, N.Y. (WBEN) - Four local professional wrestlers are recovering after a scary accident on I-90 over the weekend.
Kevin Pufpaff, Kevin Bennett, Danny Garcia, and Kevin Lockwood, were driving back to Western New York from an independent wrestling show in Montreal on Sunday when they struck a patch of black ice near Batavia and hit a guard rail, according to Jesse Guilmette, a local wrestler who goes by the name "Pepper Parks".
"They didn't hit the guard rail sideways, they hit the beginning of the guard rail," Guilmette, who wasn't on the road with them, said. "It did a number on the car and nearly ripped it in half."
Jonathan Huber, a Western New York native, who wrestles professionally in the WWE by the name "Luke Harper" donated $1,500 to the fundraising efforts Dori Prange, who wrestles by the name "Ruby Riott" donated $500. Other internationally-known professional wrestlers have chipped into the fundraising efforts and spread awareness on it including Aleister Black and former pro wrestler CM Punk.
"It's nice because it puts at least a positive spin on such a tragic thing," Guilmette added. "I was with those guys in the hospital on (Sunday). Within an hour, the gofundme reached some good numbers. They were blown away, speechless, and crying."
