BUFFALO, N.Y. (WBEN) - The Explore & More Children's Museum at Canalside is expected to finish its construction and open its doors in the coming months.

On Monday, the Erie Canal Harbor Development Corporation, which oversees development at Canalside, approved a proposal by Explore & More for an attention-grabbing feature on the building: A tricycle.

"It will be there when it opens," ECHDC President Steven Ranalli said about the tricycle. "The tricycle was part of their moving forward with the branding effort for the children's museum. It's a classic toy, so lots of people will see that as they drive over the Skyway and into the site."

Ranalli said it reflects the history of the site with the Pierce Company, which made bicycles before automobiles.

Members of the ECHDC Board of Directors shared reservations about other aspects of signage at the museum such as its lettering. Ranalli said those concerns shouldn't delay the museum's opening.
