Ice Boom to be Removed Today

Buffalo, NY (WBEN) The New York Power Authority says it's ready to remove the Ice Boom. NYPA anticipates less than 250 square miles of ice along Lake Erie and the Niagara River today.

Last year, the boom opening began on April 10. The latest date for the start of the boom opening was May 3, 1971, while the earliest start date was February 28, 2012.
