BUFFALO (WBEN - Brendan Keany) - As the Buffalo Sabres continue to celebrate their 50th anniversary, Labatt USA is releasing Labatt Blue and Gold Ale, thanks to the brewing expertise of Marty Biron, at this Saturday's fan fest.
Brewmaster Ryan Brady explained the process of creating it.
"The idea of the 'Golden Ale' kind of came naturally - Golden Anniversary," said Brady. "After we decided that, it was a matter of what we wanted it to taste like and the flavor profile we were looking for. We wanted something that was easy to drink just because it's outdoors and the summer. Not only craft beer drinkers or only Blue Light drinkers are going to be down here, so we wanted something that was accessible to everyone."
However, Blue and Gold Ale will only be made available in a limited quantity at Sabres fan fest, as well as on tap at Labatt Brew House and The Draft Room.
"It's a one-time brewing, so when it's done, it's done," said Biron. "So, if you want to enjoy it, come to the fan fest, come to the Brew House to be able to enjoy it because once it's out, they move on to something else."
