Lakeshore Flood Watch for Lake Ontario

LAKESHORE FLOOD WATCH for Niagara and Orleans Counties along the Lake Ontario shoreline.

The National Weather Service in Buffalo has issued a Lakeshore Flood Watch, which is in effect from Sunday evening through Tuesday afternoon.

* LOCATIONS...Niagara, Orleans, Monroe, Wayne, Northern Cayuga, and Oswego counties.

* LAKE SHORE FLOODING...The combination of very high lake levels and moderate to strong northwest winds will result in greaterwave action and an increase in lakeshore flooding on the southern shoreline of Lake Ontario.

* TIMING...From Sunday evening through Tuesday afternoon.

* IMPACTS...Lakeshore flooding may increase, especially in bays, inlets, and other low lying areas along the shoreline. Wave action will produce an increase in shoreline erosion.INSTRUCTIONS: A Lakeshore Flood Watch means that conditions favorable for lakeshore flooding are expected to develop. Residents on or near the shore should take action to protect property...and listen for later statements or warnings.
