HAMBURG, N.Y. (WBEN) - McKinley Mall in Hamburg was evacuated shortly before 8:30 a.m Thursday after a fire started in the storage area of the New York & Company Outlet Store.
Crews were alerted by Mall security and dealt with “heavy smoke”. Crotty notes the sprinkler system took care of some of the fire.
Twelve different fire agencies were on hand including Hamburg, Orchard Park, and West Seneca Fire Departments plus several volunteer agencies. Crotty said this is part of the first response agreement with McKinley Mall, whose physical size would be challenge for one department to handle.
Other businesses were affected and the respective owners have been notified by mall management. The status of those stores were not revealed.
