Lockport, NY (WBEN) - Union workers at General Motors' Lockport plant have strongly voted against the proposed contract between GM and the UAW that would end the nearly 40-day strike.
The UAW Local 686 posted the results of this week's vote on their Facebook page.
Production workers voted 81% 'No' on the vote. Skilled Trades workers voted 'No' 62% to 38%, and Salaried workers voted unanimously 'No' to the proposed deal.
Then deal, reached last week, would give workers a mix of pay raises, lump sum payments, and a signing bonus, but it has received a mixed reaction from union members, many of whom are still unhappy about the decision to close factories in Lordstown, Ohio and Warren, Michigan.
Workers from the UAW Local 774 in Tonawanda are scheduled to vote on the contract Thursday.
