Albany, NY (WBEN) - Beginning Saturday night, all barbershops, hair salons, tattoo or piercing parlors and related personal care services will be closed across New York state.
The measure is the latest in a series of closings announced by Governor Cuomo's office to combat the spread of Coronavirus. Just this week, Bars, Restaurants, Gyms, Movie Theaters, Malls, and more have been ordered to close.
The new provisions include nail technicians, cosmetologists and estheticians, and the provision of electrolysis, laser hair removal services. The state says these services cannot be provided while maintaining social distance.
The order is part of the same edict that directs employers to reduce their in-person workforce at any locations by 75% no later than Saturday at 8 p.m. Any essential business or entity providing essential services or functions are not subject to the in-person restrictions.
