Buffalo, NY (WBEN) - It's Pride Weekend in Buffalo, meaning several events will take place throughout the week showcasing acceptance of the local LGBT community.
"There has been a lot of progress for LGBTQ rights," said Rob Baird, who's been involved with organizing the Pride events that bring together the LGBT community in Buffalo. "In the current political climate there's still a need for us all to come together, but there's definitely a spirit of celebration."
The events have taken a different tone over the last decade, from something necessary, to a celebration that even includes corporate support.
"M&T Bank is our presenting sponsor for this week, and while some people are a little skeptical when corporations are putting money behind these sorts of events, I really think that it shows that a lot of these corporations want to show their support for diversity."
