BUFFALO (WBEN) - Developers from the Queen City Landing development project on Fuhrmann Boulevard went before the Buffalo Planning Board on Monday evening to request a planned unit development designation.
However, several people from the community aren't so certain. Arthur Giacalone was extremely outspoken regarding his negative views of this project, and he was even asked if he envisions a lawsuit forthcoming.
"There isn't because I believe the Common Council will do the right thing and say this is not a PUD, this is not a planned unit development," responded Giacalone. "A planned unit development is not one big tower on a 20-acre site; a planned unit development is integrating a number of buildings and a number of uses in a creative, efficient way - we don't have that. The only reason that there is a PUD application is because they have to get around the six-story limit and the 90-foot limit in the Green Code for that site."
The Planning Board decided to table the discussion, and Pantano indicated that they expect to go back within the next several weeks.
Queen City Landing developers are going before the Common Council's Legislation Committe on Tuesday at 1 p.m.
Regardless of the difference in opinion, Pantano says they expect shovels in the ground at some point this spring, that is, unless there's a hiccup in the process, like a lawsuit.
"If history gives us any indication, I don't think that's out of the realm of possibility that it would happen," said Pantano. "I can't pretend to see the future."
