Brown called Maurice Garner a "good friend", who he worked with in county government and supported community projects through the Grassroots organization.

"He is someone that I believe has really made a major contribution to this community," Brown said.

Sources told The Buffalo News that FBI agents asked questions to people regarding Garner. The report did not name the people who were interviewed.

Buffalo City Hall was raided on November 6. FBI agents left after several hours with full carts of documents covered by a tarp.

The FBI has not and likely will not say what the investigation centered around until indictments are issued. There have been no charges in connection to the raid.
