Buffalo, NY (WBEN) - The Buffalo Sabres announced Tuesday morning that they have fired General Manager Jason Botterill.

Kevyn Adams has been named the new General Manager.

"This morning, we informed Jason Botterill he will no longer be the General Manager of the Sabres," the team said in a statement. "This decision was made after many candid discussions with Jason during a full review of our hockey operation."

"We recognized we have philosophical difference regarding how to best put ourselves in a position to compete for a Stanley Cup."

The statement and firing are a stark contrast to what Owner Kim Pegula told the Associated Press less than a month ago.
