Albion, NY (WBEN) - Police in Albion say they have been working with the FBI to determine the source of a social media threat that targeted a local school, and found out that the concerning post originated overseas.

Police in Albion say that a Facebook post threatened violence against an unspecified school, but when they investigated the post, it was revealed the account had been taken over by a person in Croatia, who hijacked that account, and made the threatening post.

The FBI believes the account was taken over due to a malware attack on the person's phone. Albion police are now hoping to remind people to monitor their social media, and change their passwords frequently.
