Nicole Marasco with the Letter Carriers in Buffalo says it will be delivered to local food banks and pantries. "This is the time of year when the schools are getting out, lunch programs are going away and pantries are depleted. This is probably the thinnest time of year for local food pantries," she said.
Letter Carrier Zeb Robson says all you have to do is put food by your mailbox, and we will pick it up when we deliver your mail. "We'll take anything non-perishable," he said. "We prefer not to have glass jars, but if you're willing to donate, we are willing to accept it".
Suggested non-perishable food items include cereal, dry pasta, pasta sauce, rice, canned fruits, and vegetables, canned meals (such as soups and chili), 100 percent juice, peanut better, macaroni & cheese, canned protein (tuna, chicken, and turkey), beans (canned or dry). All donated items will be taken to food banks and pantries to benefit individuals in need in your community
Leave non-perishable food by your mailbox and letter carriers will do the rest. Don't forget the #StampOutHunger Food Drive is on Saturday, May 11th. Video via @USPS. #zerohunger #fooddrive pic.twitter.com/FdTxk9zaz5
