
AMHERST, NY (WBEN) - Amherst Police are calling the situation that led to a haz-mat situation near Eggert Road a "chemically-assisted suicide."
Police said the incident began around 11:30 Tuesday evening. Police were called to a home on Garland Avenue off Eggert Road near Main for a noise complaint.
Police Captain Kevin Brown said that when officers arrived, they discovered a body and hazmat situation, which they could only describe as a chemically-assisted suicide. Police say throughout the situation there was no danger to the surrounding public, even though part of Eggert Road was shut of for a few hours.
