Amherst, N.Y. (WBEN) -  Town of Amherst officials have a message for businesses during Covid-19.  In a video message Wednesday, Supervisor Brian Kulpa said the town is acting on behalf of Governor Andrew Cuomo's executive order, declaring non-essential businesses to be closed.

"Those businesses that are deemed non-essential, need to be in compliance with the governor's order immediately," said Kulpa.  He said the town is taking a look at which businesses are operating, and which ones are not. "If we have to, we will close your business," said Kulpa.

If you have a question about whether a business is deemed "essential", you can check with Empire State Development.  You can apply for a waiver if you feel you have an essential business.
