Buffalo, NY (WBEN) - The UB Men's Basketball Team is taking home some hardware as they gear up for the start of March Madness, which for them begins with a MAC tournament game against Akron tomorrow at noon.

Head Coach Nate Oats was named the MAC Coach of the year, and senior CJ Massinburg was named the MAC Player of the Year Wednesday morning. For Oats, it's the second straight year he's won the award.

It's just the beginning of what UB hopes to add to their trophy case before the end of the season.

"It's been great," Oats told WBEN. "The city of Buffalo has really embraced us. It's been nice that we've been ranked in the top 25 since the second week of the season."

But the biggest tests are still to come.

"There's a little bit less pressure this year (in the MAC Tournament) because we're pretty confident we're going to get an at-large bid (into the NCAA Tournament) if something doesn't go right, but we're still planning on winning that tournament in Cleveland."
